Building Resilient Communities, Wetland Ecosystems, and Associated Catchments in Uganda: FP034

Project Outline

This project seeks to support the Government of Uganda to take climate change issues (increased climate variability, and extreme weather events such as drought, floods, high temperatures, and violent storms) into account in the management of critical wetlands through restoration of wetlands and their ecosystem services, based on wise-use principles and guidelines as outlined by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

Potential Indicators of Key Impacts

Expected total number of direct and indirect beneficiaries, disaggregated by gender (reduced vulnerability or increased resilience):

  1. Direct beneficiaries: 800,000 persons
  2. Indirect beneficiaries: close to 4 million persons
11% of the vulnerable population of Uganda
